KETCHUM, ID - - Saturday in Ketchum was "Dock Dogs" day. It's a competition (sponsored by a pet food company) to see how far the dog jumps; what the style is like and time. Think a big lake; a boat dock; your dog and a ball / toy / other item. Throw it and the dog jumps off the dock.
Now put a big swimming pool type water filled bladder in downtown Ketchum and all the decking; add over 30 golden retriever-types and assorted others and you have Dock Dogs.
Some dogs really got into the action; others ran quickly to the edge of the platform...and stopped then looked around for any other way to carefully get into the water. These participants drew a lot of laughter and encouragement. In all it was fun to watch...and we only stayed through practice.
