Navaho Lake has three campgrounds and a lodge (right, with power by generator). A sinkhole in the lake drains through the rocks to cascade falls - - basically an opening in the rocks where the water pours through.
To get to Cascade Falls you hike about a half mile along the rim of the canyon (above) on a trail recently refurbished and opened.
And the obligatory still life with quaking aspens over looking Duck Creek and Duck Creek Pond.
DIXIE NATIONAL FOREST, UT - - If you read Lydia's most recent blogs (via link on this page) you'll know we had a fairly quiet weekend...not trying to hike ourselves into the ground. Instead we went looking for new/more campsites in the high country of Utah around Bryce/Cedar Breaks parks.

Utah fireworks
KANAB, UT - - This time around our days off fall on July 4-5, but we escaped after work on Sat. July 3 and headed for Kanab, UT. Not too many places have fireworks as this is a very day area with a fire danger of 'high' or 'very high' displayed on forestry signs along the highways. We got to see our fireworks on July 3 and then walk back to the motel we're staying in (it was 90-degrees when we got here and both campgrounds looked very full) and watch the end of the NASCAR race at Daytona.
