ORMOND BEACH, FL - - Not much happening here. Can't complain about the weather or the relatively warm temperatures. We've got lots of resumes and job applications out there but no real bites yet.
I spend a lot of time going to or at the library so I figure I've got just a much right as others to bore blog readers with a list of books I've discovered lately. I like crime / espionage / cold war novels so here's a short list of authors who do not use the U.S. as a base for their stories.
Robert Wilson writes about a police inspector in Seville, Spain
"A small death in Lison" - - "The vanished hands"
Richard Kunzmann's main characters do their work in Johannesburg, South Africa
"Bloddy Harvests" - - "Salamander Cotton"
Kenneth Bruen's protaganist in the books listed has plenty of demons as company in Gallway, Ireland
"The Priest" - - "The Guards"
Timothy Hallinan likes to use Bangkok, Thailand as his setting
"Nail through the heart"
Jo Nesbo's detective works in Helsinki, Finland
"The Red Breast" - - "Devils Star"
Each author offers a different style, a different look which is interesting when contrasting to some of my favorite american and english authors.
